Mekerenyochu (መከረኞቹ) is a french historical novel called ‘Les Miserables’ written by the famous writer and philosopher Victor Hugo. It was translated to Amharic by the famous Ethiopian author and translator Sahile Silassie Birhane Mariam in 1983 E.C.

This book narrates a tragic story that occurred in France. Through the main character Jean Valjean, this book will show us how much agony a human can sustain and how much he will pay to get out of this agony.
