Job Description

Kulich Youth Reproductive Health and Development Organization (KYRHDO) is an indigenous nonprofit, Non- governmental Organization. It strives to see productive youth equipped with appropriate Reproductive Health services, protected from the further spread of HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Infections amongst young people, as well as to care for those who are already infected or affected by the disease. KYRDHO was established in April 2003 with a vision to see youth free from HIV and AIDS and gender inequality. The organization’s mission focuses on assisting youth to be empowered to prevent harmful traditional practices and behaviors related to sex and sexuality. In line with the above, KYRHDO would like to hire a Senior Accountant to serve the organization in the finance section with the below justification.

General Responsibilities

The Finance Officer has general responsibilities to organize and systematize the Finance section of the organization.

  • Ensures the posting of accounting data to subsidiary ledgers and general ledger accounts from accounting records and documents;
  • Prepare financial reports and  statements resulting from sub and general ledger accounts;
  • Prepares income and expenses documents according to the rules and regulations of  the organization;
  • Updates and prepares employees’ payroll registration;
  • Ensures that all deductible amounts are deducted and paid to the concerned parties timely;
  • Closes the financial accounts of the  organization monthly;
  • Closes daily account balances and reports cash at hand;
  • Prepares appropriate classification of codes and postings of all relevant transaction documents on the various control and subsidiary ledger accounts;
  • Verifies that bank statements are reconciled with accounts records;
  • Verifies that expenditures are justified properly and signed and charged to the  correct accounts;
  • Ensures the agreement of controlling and subsidiary ledgers;
  • Calculates salary, allowances, other operating expenses, and capital expenditures;
  • Conducts references and cross-references of all source documents to the ledger  account codes, keeps and up-dates  journal voucher register books;
  • Prepares a monthly trial balance of all ledger account balances;
  • Extracts and prepares a schedule of account balances upon request by management;
  • Checks the preparation of cost build-up sheets for each purchase, individual  projects, and other ongoing activities involving cost;
  • Establishes Financial and manual/ guidelines and ensures their implementation.
  • Develops and presents recommendations for the improvement of an existing system.
  • Prepares the annual budget of KYRHDO in collaboration with Program Staff.
  • Ensures that all payments to the KYRHDO are received properly and monitor them after approval.
  • Accesses all financial documents to internal and external auditors for auditing;
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Executive Directress

Place of Work:- KYRHDO Head Quarter in Addis Ababa, with minimal field travel

Employment Status:- One-year contract with possible of extension based on fund availability and the incumbent staff performance.
