Qualification
Education:
- Minimum of BA degree in accounting and finance from a recognized university
Experience:
- minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience for a private organization with a background in reporting and internal control.
Technical skills:
- fluent in Amharic and English (speaking and writing), analytical, strong financial knowledge and skills and knowledge of the relevant regulations, proficient skills in using Microsoft office especially Excel and able to plan effectively and efficiently.
Social skills:
- high level of integrity and accountability, ambitious and hard-working, eager to learn, good feedback mentality, very strong communications skills, structured and a team player.
- Attention to detail: the candidate should have a keen eye for detail to ensure that financial data is accurate and complete.
- Problem-solving skills: the candidate should have strong problem-solving skills to be able to identify and resolve financial issues and discrepancies.
- Ethiopian Tax laws and regulation
- Candidates are required to have good references.
- Candidates who have worked for an international company and have experience in a FMCG company are preferred.
Job Description
Allana group of companies are the world leaders in Halal Meat. Akeseker Ethiopia Casing PLc is a foreign investor in meat subsector and is being promoted to leading meat exporter of India “Allana Group”. Hence, would like to employ Senior Accountant with the below qualification.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monthly bank reconciliation of all accounts, Sales reconciliation, Purchase recon Petty cash reconciliation and etc. Support the daily clearing of balances in the system.
- Monitor and lead the daily reconciliation of outstanding debtor and creditor positions, coordinating appropriate follow-up actions to ensure timely payment. Support the daily clearing of balances in the system.
- Manage outstanding receivables, including monitoring and tracking accounts receivable balances, and working with sales teams to ensure timely payment and recoverability.
- Reconcile monthly financial reporting with supporting documentation from accounting, HR, and operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Follows up the evaluation and analysis of monthly trial balances, quarterly statements of income and expenditure account and of any other financial information and the provision of qualified information for management decision making;
- Closely follow up the timely collection of receivables and payment of payables and make sure that all receivables are payables are fully cleared at the end of every quarter and no balance is carried forward.
- Extracts account balances of prepayments from the general ledger and prepares schedule of accounts to complete the accounting cycle;
- Organizes maintenance of books of accounts, journals, ledgers and supporting documents in accordance with standard practices and accounting manual;
- Checks that financial documents, ledgers, journal vouchers and supporting documents are maintained and organized in accordance with the accounting system of the Society;
- Ensures that all transactions of disbursements and receivables are journalized and posted into respective ledgers timely;
- Make sure that all payables and receivables are cleared on quarterly basis and no outstanding balances of payables and receivables are carried over to the next period; Ensures that the Society’s accounting documents are properly organized;
- Ascertains that account records are maintained in the proper classification of codes per the accounting procedure of the Society; Verify the correctness of the calculation of the deductions from the employee salary;
- Provides branch offices with professional assistances in performing accounting activities; follows up the financial reports of the branches;
- Facilitates and follows up the preparation and communication of project financial reports as per commitments made with funding agents and pertinent financial policies and procedures of the Society;
- Ensures that financial documents, ledgers, journal vouchers and supporting documents are maintained and organized in accordance with the accounting system of the Company;
- Monthly Financial and Balance Sheet Review: Undertake monthly reviews of financial records and balance sheets to ensure accuracy and completeness and identify any discrepancies or inconsistencies that require further investigation or resolution. And support on monthly closing procedures in line with the companies’ policies and SOP’s.
